Instructed and proctored a microbiology lab of 22 undergraduate students. Taught microbiology techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, cell inoculation, DNA extraction, GUS assay, competent cell preparation, E. coli transformation, SDS-PAGE, and spectrophotometry analysis. Graded assignments/exams, maintained safety protocols, and managed a Canvas page. Provided individual support to students throughout class via further clarification and explanation of topics.

Created communication pieces to support all programs and resources Thriving Pink offers to breast cancer patients and survivors. Programs included, but were not limited to, financial assistance, peer support and workshops, and community sponsors. Managed a large listserv of over 1,500 subscribers using Little Green Light and supported Thriving Pink board members in any necessary means.

Pathways Summer Intern at the Washington State Department of Health, focusing on Disaster Epidemiology within the Disease Control and Health Statistics Department.Supported the Disaster Epidemiology team in development and organization of resources and tools used for all hazard responses. Assisted a local health jurisdiction execute a Rapid Needs Assessment in response to a disaster including creation of a questionnaire, codebook, and R file for data cleaning and analysis. Created a new internal Microsoft Power App for Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response (CASPER) questionnaire building with over 700 questions.Performed a comprehensive literature review of CASPERs to create documentation regarding best practices and limitations to CASPERs.Assisted with the creation of an internal SharePoint page for Rapid Needs Assessments.Supported the internal DOH Epidemiological Response Team in rostering, training, and credentialing through the development of member database.

Conducted independent wet lab experiments for multiple cardiac physiology research projects. Was primarily responsible for preparing cardiomyocyte cells from mice through Langendorff perfusion for graduate and post-doc level researchers, updating and maintaining animal databases, and preparing mice for echocardiograms and minipump implantation surgeries. Other duties included mentoring undergraduate students, mouse genotyping, assisting with rabbit cardiomyocyte isolations, taking gravimetric data from mice and rabbits, mouse husbandry, helping with data analysis, making solutions, taking out biohazardous waste, and ensuring a clean and safe laboratory space.

Conducted and assisted with wet lab research pertaining to the improvement of an in vivo mouse and rabbit model for Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction. Was responsible for assisting and executing experiments to test the efficacy of the proposed model. Such experiments included, but were not limited to, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, echocardiograms, in vivo measurements, gravimetric data collection, and imaging of histological staining. Additional laboratory duties included assisting with cardiomyocyte isolations and mice mini-pump implementation surgeries, making solutions, taking out biohazardous waste, and ensuring a clean laboratory space.

Created, published, updated, and maintained SeaVuria and associated websites. Gained experience working in equal opportunity education, specific group support, and the non-profit sector. Played a role in providing girls in Kenya with education through scholarship fundraising.

Conducted internet and telephone interview research on over 50 organizations in Yolo and Sacramento Counties to update a database that UC Davis and associated clinics use to refer patients to community resources. Created fact sheets on free education programs and resources as a part of the COVID Resource Development Program.

As a part of the yard team, I worked in a small group with 2-4 interns and one overseer every day of the week.
