Emily Wicks brings her skills as a planner, researcher, manager, and communicator. Her unique combination of legislative, policy, government, and political experience has supported organizations across Washington state, and the nation in developing and executing strategies to achieve their goals. Born and raised in western Washington, Emily began her career at Gallatin Public Affairs in 2008 and went on to work as a deputy finance director for the successful campaign to elect Washington Governor Jay Inslee. She also served as a legislative aide to former State Representative, Senator, and Washington Lieutenant Governor Cyrus Habib, and as the communications and community relations coordinator for the Marysville School District. At the District, she worked with staff, students, families, and the community to support their goals and build a positive community presence. Emily returned to Gallatin in 2019 and left Gallatin after six short months to start up her business Bossy LLC in October. During that time, she focused on providing communications, social media, and press services to a variety of organizations in the Snohomish County region. Emily was also elected to serve a two-year term as the President of the Women’s Political Caucus of Washington (NWPC-WA), a multi-partisan organization where she has served on the board since 2013. The organization is dedicated to recruiting, training, and electing women to public office. When the pandemic struck in 2020, Emily worked to keep the organization afloat. In May of 2020, she was also appointed as a State Representative for Washington State’s 38th Legislative District. She ran for office to retain her seat and served a full-term in the State Legislature from 2021 to 2022. In March of 2022, Emily announced she would not seek reelection to focus full-time on her business and entrepreneurship, leading to where she is today. Emily graduated from Washington State University with bachelor’s degrees in political science and public relations. In addition to consulting, she writes, podcasts, and creates. As a past president of NWPC-WA, she continues to dedicate her time and educational opportunities to ensuring women have equal political representation. Emily is also on the board of the Marysville YMCA. Emily lives in Everett with her husband James “Bubba” Day and loves political strategy, snarky feminism, her high school alma mater Marysville Pilchuck, Mariner’s baseball, the Cougs, and finding adventures around the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
