  • Antibody Analytics
    Senior Scientific Support
Antibody Analytics Oct 2019 - Present
    Motherwell, United Kingdom
In this position I head up the Scientific Support team. We have a small but skilled team and carry out all cell culture, protein purification and media/reagent preparation within Antibody Analytics. This role has allowed me to branch into line management, which I really enjoy. As the team grows we are able to move into other areas of the business. At the moment the areas we are able to support are bioanalytical and SPR through protein purification. As we become a more experienced team I hope that we will also be able to support more in the immunoncology and R&D departments.
  • Antibody Analytics

This role involved researching culture methods for new cell lines and scheduling cell culture for our operations team, as well as managing our internal research and development cell culture projects. In this role I implemented procedures to allow our lab to become a biosafety level 2 facility. I have also worked to improve our cell banking practices via new quality control procedures and through the use of new equipment to allow the creation of bigger, better and more consistent cell banks.Having recently joined both the health and safety and the biosafety teams within the company I’m looking forward to the new challenges that come with these roles.

  • Thermo Fisher Scientific
    Quality Control Laboratory Technician
Thermo Fisher Scientific Jun 2016 - May 2017
    Inchinnan
This role was my first experience of working in a GLP, GMP and GDP environment. It gave me all the knowledge I required to work under strict GLP conditions and even allowed me to participate in on site audits. My overall job as a technician within the QC team was to perform testing on raw materials and finished goods before they could be released. In the tissue culture lab I helped maintain both mammalian and insect cell lines and also performed cell based assays. In the microbiology lab I performed bioburden testing and carried out environmental monitoring for many areas throughout the site. I was also very involved in the re-qualification of the buildings water system. For this project I carried out sampling of the water from different points in the building and then performed bioburden testing on these samples daily for 3 months. This as a massive project requiring lots of time and paperwork over many weeks. The project was successful and the water system was deemed to be of the level required to be qualified.
