For me, data science is the perfect intersection of mathematics and computer science. As a current master’s student at the Institute for Advanced Analytics and an aspiring data scientist, I am enthusiastic to apply my problem-solving logic and coding skills to solve real-world challenges.While earning my undergraduate degree, I gained experience wrangling data and building machine learning models in R, especially on my thesis project that predicted a breast cancer patient’s access to treatment, measured by the days between their diagnosis and first treatment appointment. This project challenged me to expand my data science knowledge and use my data skills to make an impact. I am continuing to expand my skills to include Python and SQL, and I am eager to combine these statistical and coding skills to provide valuable insights for meaningful projects!
