Compiled and managed a database of all new University Sailing Clubs Commodores across the UK for the 2019-2020 year and invited them to be a part of the challenge run by ‘The Green Blue’, an environmental awareness programme. Communicated and liaised with the Sustainability Officers appointed for each Sailing Club throughout the year via email and skype and supported the Campaign Manager at the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show 2020.

Accepted on to an internship working with the marine mammal conservation charity, Seawatch. Included a lot of interaction with the public and customer service. Communicated with the public for raising awareness and charity purposes, including conducting talks on tourist dolphin watching trips. Conducted line-transect surveys and daily photo identification studies to monitor the population of bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoise and grey seals in the area. Office work included photo identification, completing and cataloguing sightings data into the national database, entry of land and boat-based effort data.

Camp Quinipet, New York

Involved in both the Overnight and Community Sailing Programmes for beginners, intermediates and advanced sailors. I also worked as a camp counsellor in the evenings and at weekends. Organised and conducted the Overnight Sailing Programme (groups as large as 40 children) from a range of backgrounds. Learned interactive motivational and leadership skills in engaging with and inspiring young people to sail, learn and enjoy the sessions. Proactively dealt with safety and organisational issues when they arose.

Thailand

Conducted biodiversity surveys on coral reefs using line transects in order to collect baseline data to detect trends in biodiversity. Engaged in mangrove reforestation and restoration in order to restore ecosystem services including fisheries, storm protection, erosion control, and enhance the blue carbon.
