As book editor, I helped co-write the first draft of our manuscripts with each of our new authors and led each book through rigorous rounds of developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading, all while maintaining consistent communication with each author and adhering to tight deadlines. I worked closely with all departments, from design to marketing to social media, to create the most impactful content for our readers. Over my tenure with A Kids Co., I contributed to the editorial process for close to 100 nonfiction titles.

Additionally, I created and maintained the editorial timeline for each project, adding new projects as books were acquired. I also maintained consistent communication with each author, writing detailed notes for copyediting rounds and guiding them through each editorial phase.

As managing editor for FLUX, an annual publication highlighting remarkable people and stories from the Pacific Northwest, I was responsible for story content and worked with each of our writers through story ideation, creation, and editing phases. I worked closely with the Editor in Chief to filter story pitches and craft a budget for the overall production of the magazine. I edited finished stories, checked grammar and facts, addressed flow and readability concerns, and ultimately authored my own piece, “Reclaiming Life in Color: Unearthing the unique human silenced by de-humanizing trauma,” which was a finalist for the 2019 Associated Collegiate Press Story of the Year award.

As a writing coach, I assisted students with academic, personal, and professional writing. I helped them learn how to detect problem patterns in their writing and devise long-term vs. single, assignment-based solutions. For international students, I also helped them learn the nuances and conventions for writing in English.

As an intern to the Production Editor, I assisted with proofreading blog posts, website updates, and content for book projects, such as "About the Author" sections. I also formulated and proofread promotional materials, like tip sheets and a program for the 2017 Frankfurt Book Fair. Additionally, I created two databases to assist the marketing division with outreach to children's bookstores and home school organizations, as well as a contact sheet for a Beyond Words card deck.
