My role is to ensure smooth running of the electron microscopes, specifically FEI Titan Krios's, in the Astbury Biostructure Laboratory. My main role is to pump prime new research both within the university and outside. I train and assist users to set up EPU data collections. I am also the Industry contact for users who wish to use our facilities.

Untangling the processes of replication and encapsidation in PicornaviralesThe aim of my research is to understand how viruses assemble and encapsidate their genome. To do this I have analysed the structure of a number of viruses to <4 Å resolution using cryo electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and built atomic models de novo. These cryo-EM structures have permitted the development of hypotheses for genome encapsidation and viral assembly.

Functional assembly of the mammalian mini-chromosome maintenance (MCM) protein.Studied the functional assembly of the mammalian minichromosome maintenance complex (MCM2-7), through cell biology, biochemistry and structural analyses approaches. My research enabled me to hypothesise a mechanism for the spatially and temporally regulated loading of MCM2-7 onto chromatin.
