Alongside my Trustee role, I also am a mentor for young people that are part of the Social Ark family, working closely on a 1-1 basis with young people who are developing their enterprises and charities.

Social Ark was set up in 2015 with the aim of enabling resilient 16–30-year-olds from under-resourced East London communities to develop social businesses - drawing on their own lived experiences.Social Ark provides a programme of workshops, mentoring and personalised support that enables the young people they work with to focus on their assets and talents. In this way, they build on their goals, creating a springboard of positive action that results in sustainable change.

Working directly on the Youth Investment Fund (YIF), a £368m fund dedicated to improving capital facilities for young people across the country.

My role as the Programmes/Office Manager at Box Up Crime is fast paced, yet rewarding. My dream, once finishing University, was to work with young people at risk of getting involved in crime and intervene to reshape their lives and help them see a world where crime shouldn't be an option - and this is exactly what I do at Box Up Crime.My roles and responsibilities include:- Working on marketing and graphic designing of all aspects of Box Up, including social media, re-designing programme bookets (E.G '6 weeks to the real me' youth school mentoring programme and our 'Box Up Basics' training programme), designing tangible information booklets to pass to young people, parents, and outward organisations.- Acting as the main funding writer/bidder for all potential applications - including research and editing.- Designing and creating new programmes to add to our ongoing, expansive roster (E.G 'She can BoxUp' programme for young women affected by youth crime).- Acting as the middle ground of liaison for partner organisations, starting conversations, and creating partnerships.- Mentoring a cohort of young people 1-1 with either previous or pending convictions, victims of youth violence, or at risk young people - monitoring their progress with Box Up Crime, giving them access to opportunities, jobs, work related training, and free boxing training. - Being responsible for all incoming payments (invoicing), timesheets for all staff and handling petty cash.- Acting as the working manager for all volunteers and programme coaches.All of the above work is to work towards our goal of achieving 20 Box Up 'Hubs' across London - as demonstrated in our five-year plan.

During this work placement, I worked with young people on a 1-1 basis (aged 18-25) - all of which suffered mental health problems - and built with them a 1 month plan to get them back on track, reach their goals, and solve some long withstanding problems, including:- Issuing police complaints on behalf of young people, attending meetings, helping clients understand their legal rights.- Attending GP meetings with young people, again helping them understand their legal rights with regards to prescriptions and the right to refuse certain medication and request alternative treatment.- Attend college open days with clients, making them feel more at ease (especially if the young person suffers with anxiety).- Gaining and retaining knowledge within all aspects of advocacy work, including data inputting, timekeeping, notekeeping, and legal knowledge (Human Rights) relating to housing, relationships, health and employment.

Body and Soul works with young people affected by trauma and ACE's (adverse childhood experiences), mainly including adoption and/or involvement within the care system(ages of 5-10). As a volunteer workshop assistant, my duties at B&S included:- Assisting the Workshop Manager in ensuring the activities were always innovative and engaging for the young people, particularly including the use of cooking, drama, and gardening.- Assisting the children in allowing them to use their voice, and nurturing them providing them with a safe space for them to blossom and show their personalities without fear of being judged due to past experiences - acting as a 1-1 mentor, assessing and tracking their progress weekly keeping a diary for each child and using this data to monitor positive improvements or areas of the child's behaviour or demeanour which require more time spent.

During my time at R.O.Y.A.L.S, I learned a lot in a short space of time as this was my first paid role in a manager position. My roles and responsibilities included:- Acting as the working manager for all youth workers paid and unpaid, keeping timesheets of all staff.- Creating and commissioning new programmes as a response from the local community (E.G Yoga classes for mothers, youth club for young people that was inclusive of all abilities, and baby and toddler sensory classes).- Acting as the lead youth worker for three youth clubs a week, organising and creating new games and activities for each club (E.G Drama based workshops, and partnering with Mind in Havering to give workshops and talks on mental wellbeing).- Helping run the 'Ab-Phab' club, for young people - helping bring disabled and non-disabled young people together - breaking down levels of segregation.

Working in a government-established public swimming pool as my first ever paid job during my A-Level studies was an intense, but rewarding job. My duties included:- Exercising my knowledge of health and safety from my monthly training making sure the leisure centre ran smoothly, including disinfecting of pool and changing rooms (COSHH).- Helping, when needed, with more managerial-style work at reception, including petty cash payments, answering the phone, emails, and assisting with customer service.- Acting as a TA during young children's and elderly swimming lessons - ensuring health and safety of all learners.
