Hi! My name is emma martinez, and my pronouns are she/her. I am currently studying biochemistry at ASU, and I plan to go into research, particularly of psychoactive substances, such as pharmaceuticals. I greatly enjoy chemistry, both learning about the conceptual background and practicing it in a lab setting. I am the president of the ASU club Transfam, a club to welcome, celebrate, and assist trans and gender non-conforming students at ASU. In this role, I have expanded the club in numerous ways, including working with ASU coalitions and unions to advocate for trans rights, equality, and acceptance. Prior to college, I was entirely in accelerated programs, bringing lots of AP credits with me, and a prestigious scholarship.I am a fast and eager learner. I lead others through respect and understanding. I am highly capable of working independently, in structured or unstructured environments. I am friendly, welcoming, inviting, and understanding, and I work very well with others. I always bring a positive attitude; I am calm, I try to see the good in everything, and always approach situations with an open mind, ready to listen. I am not afraid to ask clarifying questions when needed. However, I am not afraid to speak up when I need to. I am highly ambitious, and strongly motivated to achieve. I am confident, and perseverant. I think critically, reflectively, analytically, creatively, resourcefully, intuitively, and openly. I always exercise strong attention to detail.I have a lot of hobbies! Right now my favorites are making music, and learning about philosophy and cognitive psychology. I just really love thinking.
