Sustainable Campus Program Coordinator
This experience is a 20 hour weekly role managing the on campus Seminole Organic Garden in its entirety, among many other duties. I create social media content to promote behavioral changes and perception of sustainability. We engage with students in educational and service events. Student program coordinators also represent the office of sustainability at FSU through networking and collaborating with student groups and offices on and off campus. One of the most interesting parts of my job is understanding the complexity behind sustainability, the interconnectedness of people, economics, and environment, and then introducing this to students in a way that provokes them to question what we do as individuals and as a society, and how we can do better.
Urop (Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program) Colloquium Instructor
I co-taught a biweekly environment and ecology research colloquium. My partner and I designed a curriculum that encompasses research methods in the environmental science discipline, academic literature, research integrity & ethics, academic applications and personal statements, fellowship opportunities, creating a research poster, applying for grants, networking in research, and more.
Nole2Nole Mentor
This was a paid experience that allowed me to provide incoming freshman with campus resources, advice, and one on one mentoring. I meet weekly with students and send a weekly mass email. We've covered welcome to FSU, campus resources, diversity and inclusion at FSU, professionalism, scholarships & financial aid, wellness, networking, academic advice and how to reach out for help.
Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (Urop) Leader Mentor
I instructed a weekly graded course at Florida State University. This course prepared students in research to conduct a biweekly research colloquium course in the following fall semester. My co instructor and I designed the syllabus, curriculum, assignments, class atmosphere, and each taught two different sections of students. Our curriculum included public speaking, inclusive language, active listening, effective teaching methods, time management, relationship dynamics between students and their mentors, diversity and inclusion, and campus resources. This experience was very rewarding because I now work alongside some of the very same students I taught and can see how I made a difference in FSU's student leaders and those students they in turn impact in their classrooms. This course was overseen by the Center for Research and Academic Engagement at FSU.
