I manage export sales in all territories excluding the US and Canada. The role is challenging but fun because of the people you meet along the way. There are so many passionate people working in bookselling, and it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to meet with and potentially sell to many of them all over the world. I learn every day, improving upon my presentation skills, management of budgets and knowledge of the wider world of publishing.

I enjoy sharing our new titles with the distribution teams and sales representatives, as well as actively selling to customers at book fairs and on visits. It was important to hear feedback from customers and sales teams, giving expertise on their markets, constantly adapting to the changes. I monitored sales for the store, and managed the team in the absence of the branch manager, and worked to company budgets.I helped organise events for the branch and looked for opportunities to improve sales through other in store initiatives.I gained a huge amount of invaluable experience and knowledge of the book industry during my time at Waterstones.

I gathered information from Ais for the company catalogue, and used this information for sales purposes. I worked with the sales and marketing manager on marketing campaigns for newly published titles, and ensuring books were with reviewers before publication to get the best coverage.I updated the publication schedules on Amazon and Nielsen, ensuring it was accurate.
