About Emma Mitchell
Dr Emma Mitchell is a physicist and Senior Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO Manufacturing where she is the Quantum Devices Team Leader and leads several projects developing technology for the mineral exploration, communications, defence & aerospace industries. Dr Mitchell has expertise in the design, fabrication, characterization of superconducting electronics including Josephson junctions, SQUIDs, SQIFs and resonators using a range of skills in electromagnetic transport, microwave spectroscopy, and optical measurements at low temperature. She previously worked as an experimental scientist at CSIRO Food Research on the biophysics and surface adhesion of artificial lipid membranes, organic amphiphilic monolayers and protein-stabilised colloidal systems. Dr Mitchell has project management and project leadership experience in both research-based and commercial project and continues to supervise research students & post-doctoral fellows.
