The Feinberg School of Medicine hosts a National Cancer Institute funded system-wide tobacco dependence treatment program integrated within the cancer treatment clinics of the Robert H Lurie Comprehensive Cancer of Northwestern University. A multidisciplinary team of health behavior specialists assess, document, and treat tobacco use/dependence in cancer patients and cancer survivors, consistent with the National Comprehensive Cancer Network clinical practice guidelines for smoking cessation.• Provides educational services and programs for patients and staff within the framework of the cancer center• Responds to inpatient and outpatient referrals for tobacco treatment and effectively collaborating as clinically indicated with other staff members, referral sources, community resources, service providers, case management organizations and support systems.• Provides direct cessation services for tobacco dependence in outpatient in both in-person and telehealth settings based on sound clinical judgment and established clinical practice guidelines with empathy and concern.• Collaborates with other team members to improve the delivery of care.• Assisting in development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of standardized tobacco treatment dependence programs.
