About Emma Strand, Ph.D.

I am a marine biologist with a passion for using genomic research to improve conservation efforts and sustainable management. Through collaborations with academic institutions, non-profit organizations, and government entities, my research addresses two main topics: 1.) Development of genomic tools to advance research-based sustainable management of marine environments, and 2.) Genomic and physiological responses of marine organisms (e.g., corals) to climate change stressors. I'm driven by not only the application of these genomic tools but sharing my passion with the broader community. I believe the bridge between the public and scientific community is often broken, and the strongest, most effective way to create change is through continued education and outreach.
