Execute protocols on a daily basis that include various laboratory techniques. Performing viral cell culture, preparation and concentration of high titer virus and bacteriophage stock, virus concentration assays from large volumes of water, viral RNA/DNA extractions from various matrices, reverse transcription quantitative PCR and qPCR, cell culture quantal and plaque assays, bacteriophage plaque assays, and titration of virus and bacteriophage stocks. Contributed to method development. Completed data analysis using RStudio and R statistical programs for several projects for use in publication.

Worked as part of the Center for Genetic Evaluation of Livestock (CGEL). Consulted with beef breed associations to discuss important traits for their breed and how CGEL could help improve those traits. The analysis of herd books for traits of interest often required writing and testing Linux code in order to run statistical analysis to find heritability estimates, correlation to other traits, and how those traits vary from breed to breed.
