Lead, support and coordinate the Engagement team at Ara to provide a professional and responsive customer experience for external clients, including schools, industry, Iwi and other community agencies. With a focus on providing training and development solutions for individuals and industry throughout the region to meet regional economic development needs and to support job seekers.Support the Deputy Chief Executive – Customer Experience and Engagement with strategic projects which will continue to enhance the customer experience for prospective & current students and graduates of Ara.

To manage, synergise and coordinate the external relationships and engagement functions within all areas of the institute in order to increase business activity, applications and the conversion rate of applications and enquiries for Ara. Implement systems and processes across the organisation in order to coordinate and manage the external relationships established across the organisation.

• Develop strong reputational relationships with secondary schools throughout the region and other key networks including the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education Commission, Canterbury Development Corporation (now Christchurch NZ) and other tertiary providers in order to continue the growth and success of the Youth initiatives at CPIT.• Develop and implement a Youth Strategy which is aligned to the organisations Investment Plan and Strategic Plan and is aligned with the government’s national Youth Guarantee policy and the Tertiary Education Strategy.• Support the negotiation and management of the Trades Academy contract with the MoE and the TEC in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer and the Chief Executive.• Manage internal and external relationships with key networks to ensure the long-term viability and sustainability of targeted youth initiatives.• Position CPIT and its Youth Strategy within secondary schools in the Canterbury region to ensure improved youth participation and academic outcomes for Youth throughout the Canterbury region.• Leadership of Youth Transitions team operations and staffing budgets.

The Canterbury Tertiary College is a MoE initiative aimed at:•Providing programmes that encourage students to remain at school.•Identifing career opportunities and pathways for students.•Achieving higher education outcomes for students.•Delivering programmes to students within a protected and nurturing environment.•Encouraging involvement of industry partners, business and community / iwi to assist and support in the learning and pathway process for each student enrolled in the Academies.The CTC Manager's role over the following 18mths is to establish the programmes offered by the CTC and meet the funding targets set by the MoE.

Recruitment of students into full time training programmes was the main responsibility in this role, along with supporting the sales and marketing activity for the organisation. There was also some teaching of travel and tourism units to secondary school students.
