As a recent graduate with a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University and a Bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University, I am passionate about leveraging my skills and knowledge to drive innovation in medical device development and molecular diagnostics. During my tenure as a Research Assistant at Vanderbilt’s Haselton Laboratory, I developed a USDA-funded RT-PCR assay that significantly improved diagnostic accuracy and speed for swine diseases, showcasing my ability to enhance field-deployable diagnostic tools.My expertise spans molecular biology techniques, including PCR, gel electrophoresis, NanoDrop spectrophotometry, and RNA sequencing. I have a proven track record in designing and optimizing assays, evidenced by my success in extending the shelf-life of diagnostic assays and mentoring junior researchers in rigorous data analysis and research methodologies.In addition to my laboratory skills, I have spearheaded several innovative projects, such as developing a low-resource fluorometer for PCR diagnostics and co-creating a concentric barrel syringe for joint pain management, for which I am listed as an inventor on the provisional patent. My work in these areas highlights my ability to identify practical solutions to complex problems, enhance device functionality, and ensure patient safety.Proficient in Python, MATLAB, and data analysis, I have applied these technical skills to conduct advanced algorithmic analyses of protein-protein interactions and GWAS data, contributing to the understanding of diseases like Parkinson’s.
