Starting my working life as a trainee accountant, I moved across to teaching initially full-time in Primary schools - specialising in maths and music for 10 years - before expanding to secondary maths up to GCSE. I have spent the last 15+ years in part-time teaching and tutoring (mainly mathematics and in the NTP). I am a mathematics trainer for Cambridge International and also mark various levels of exam scripts for them in mathematics (up to iGCSE) as well as item writing and exam setting. I hold a senior role in KS2 mathematics SATs, and am also involved in the test development stage. I am a moderator and test administrator in the U.K. for various exams. I am currently a proofreader for both a government body and a publisher of education workbooks and sit on expert panels in an advisory capacity. I am also a Content Editor for Twinkl Home Ed as well as being a Home Educator up to April 2022. I believe the student is the centre of their learning and every student should be allowed the opportunity to reach their potential with help and guidance. I wish to make a difference - nurture learning and develop a student’s thinking. My recent experience has enabled me to see from a vast spectrum of learners the many ways students learn and approach their learning. I look forward to continuing this work as opportunities arise. My work with teachers as a trainer also allows me to make a difference to the world of education that we live in.
