I was the lucky manager of a high-performing team of project managers and global coordinators supporting clinical trials across the globe. Our division was moving from a start-up phase into a high-growth period, operating in a highly regulated environment. We consistently formalized processes and found new areas for improvement. We balanced the needs of clients (pharma/CRO) with advocacy for the needs of individual patients and families (the end-users, and the ones who drive our mission).

As a certified project manager, I wrote SOPs and built efficiencies for our clients across 20 clinical trials in oncology and rare disease. I juggled the day-to-day tasks with developing organization-wide initiatives. I spent most of my time communicating, recording, and reporting on the patients traveling with us across the globe. I participated in workflow analysis, regulatory committees, and built out new roles. The excitement of a high-growth company is that there is always a gap to fill and you can never be bored.

I supported strategic initiatives for the larger organization and affiliates, simultaneously supporting the city-funded afterschool program network with professional development resources, grant writing, event planning, and staff hiring. In addition, I oversaw the back-office operations, budget, and compliance of three afterschool sites (25 staff, 400 children), managed our relationship with the funder (Department of Education), and constantly brought in new partnerships and grants to support the programs.

Managed grant writing and review processes, planned annual conference, managed compliance for Department of Education and accrediting bodies, implemented and transitioned team from spreadsheets to institution-wide student information system (SIS), produced marketing materials for institution rebranding, assisted in restructuring affiliate organization, managed partners and subcontractors, member of PHMC Policy Collaborative Steering Committee.
