Deprivation Of Liberty Safeguards (Dols) Coordinator
I was responsible for maintaining Reading Borough Council's DoLS compliance in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005. I commissioned independent assessors (Section 12 (of the Mental Health Act 1983) qualified doctors and best interest assessors) to visit care homes and hospitals to conduct their respective DoLS assessments on behalf of Reading Borough Council (RBC); I also managed each assessors workload (for RBC) and maintained a database of invoices and related purchase orders to assist with the ratification and payment of each assessors invoices.I read through assessments and screened them for any basic mistakes and safeguarding concerns before passing to management for final scrutiny ahead of sign off. I created and subsequently maintained an Excel database of all DoLS referrals that entered the system - it tracked when they entered the system, their progress through each assessment and the end process where the authorisation was finalised, signed off and distributed. I was also responsible for monitoring authorisation expiration dates and contacting relevant agencies to advise if any of their authorisations were due to or had already expired (prompting a new referral and the DoLS assessment process to begin again). As outlined within the DoLS Code of Practice, I was responsible for distributing standard authorisation paperwork to all consulted parties (which included the relevant persons family and friends and any advocacy services involved). I was also responsible for contacting local advocacy services if a paid representative was required to support the relevant person during their authorisation.I submitted monthly and quarterly reports of DoLS figures to the Data & Performance Management team which in turn were then taken to and discussed by monthly Safeguarding Adults Partnership Board meetings.I was responsible for logging all referrals and assessments on the social care record system.
Transport Assistant
My job at Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) was an operational role based within the Special Educational Needs (SEN) transport team – it focussed on the procurement and maintenance of transport contracts that allow passengers to attend specialist schools within the South Lincolnshire area. It was a very busy and frequently challenging role which required me to pay great attention to detail and to work with a flexible approach to ensure my workload priorities were met.I was required to respect strict and often tight deadlines and prioritise my own workload accordingly.Alongside my daily administrative tasks my other duties included minute taking during team meetings, the reporting and resolution of operational and passenger incidents via our Max Respect procedure, the collation and submission of cost savings to the Principal Transport Officer and the collection and analysis of information for the school transport Review Team.
Transport Officer
Within the Transporting Somerset team I was relied upon create and maintain passenger records and input health or social care trips onto the Trapeze scheduling system, following their receipt via facismile, email or telephone. Other tasks and responsibilities included the coordination of our fleet of volunteer drivers primarily over the telephone to ensure scheduled trips were covered, local taxi firms were also contacted to ensure shorter journeys were covered and the Trapeze Finance system was used to pay respective invoices. I was also responsible for the tendering and procurement of regular transport contracts for dialysis patients based in the South Somerset area.
Learning And Development Officer
I previously worked within the Somerset Health Informatics Service (SHIS) as the Learning and Development Officer. General clerical and admin duties included answering the telephones, using the Groupwise and Outlook email systems, filing, receipting invoices via the Oracle system, photocopying and general word processing. Other duties included booking staff and managers within SHIS onto appropriate training courses as well as booking venues for such events. I was also responsible fo the maintenance of central training records and the intranet site for the Learning and Development department.I was responsible for creating and supplying new members of SHIS with the correct induction pack, booking meetings between new staff an the senior management team at SHIS.I sent out training evaluation forms and produced reports based on information received from these. I also provided support to the general admin team by occasionally working on reception.
