About Emma Marinelli

I began my tertiary education at the in 2018 at the University of Adelaide. I have since graduated with first class Honours in 2021, and a Masters Degree in Speech Pathology at Flinders University. The combination of these three degrees allowed me to develop my advanced knowledge in the paediatric population, and develop my own clinical experience within medical research. My Honours project was encompassed around "autophagy" which is a healing cell. I wanted to know more about how this cell can affect the wellbeing newborns and the corresponding health effects that could follow. I wanted to make an impact in the field of neonatal medicine, working with both researchers and clinicians to improve the health of newborns. In 2022 I began studying a Masters of Speech Pathology at Flinders’ University located in Adelaide, South Australia. During my Masters degree I have completed 4 placements in various clinical settings including but not limited to, schools, childcare, hospital acute care and clinic. These placements provided me with the opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of individuals with communication and swallowing disorders. As the field of speech pathology is constantly evolving, with ongoing research and advancements in assessment techniques and therapeutic approach, pursuing a speech pathology degree means engaging in lifelong learning, staying up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices, and participating in continuing education opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills. Most recently, in 2024 I began my role as a Speech Pathologist within the metropolitan area of Adelaide, South Australia. I am really looking forward to working with a range of interdisciplinary teams, collaborating with professionals from related fields such as occupational therapy, psychology, special education, and medicine. This collaborative approach allows for a holistic and comprehensive approach to client care, promoting better outcomes.
