As a physician by training, climber and back country skier by passion, and products liability litigator by profession, I understand the value of measured, proactive risk and the importance of reliable evidence to support a particular course of action. I help clients advance litigation strategy and achieve a successful conclusion to litigation by developing an expert strategy with an evidence-based, science-forward approach. Global pharmaceutical and medical device companies call on me when they need help defending life-saving products in significant litigation. I help clients develop a science and expert strategy that is focused on winning from answer to trial, and everything in between. I do so by developing science themes that are tailored to the product, appropriate for the case, and firmly rooted in reliable science. My unique perspective on business, legal strategy/risk, and the underlying science helped drive litigation-dispositive wins in two separate multi-district litigations involving an intrauterine device. Women’s healthcare is a particular passion of mine, and over more than seven years, I have had the privilege of defending access to safe and effective contraception in products liability litigation, having served as a key member of national science, litigation strategy, and trial teams that secured litigation-dispositive wins in consecutive multi-district litigations involving a long-acting reversible contraceptive device. My pro bono practice focuses on issues of reproductive justice, reproductive choice, and access to care. I serve as co-chair for the Law Firm Antiracism Alliance’s Reproductive Justice Working Group. I also lead a Goldman Ismail team involved in ongoing investigations and litigation on behalf of women who allege they received coerced, unindicated, and unconsented gynecologic care while in an immigration detention center.
