As a teaching assistant for Lower Limb Orthotics 1, I work with a team of primary instructors and other teaching assistants to assist students with their didactic and laboratory course work. This includes creation of weekly knowledge checks, evaluation of laboratory skills, grading of quizzes and exams, staying up to date with current lower limb orthotic literature, and development of new resources to be added to the course.

During this 6 week internship, I spent 240 hours immersed in all aspects of Prosthetic and Orthotic clinical care. Under the guidance of several clinicians, I was able to observe a variety of patient cases and their associated treatment while also gaining an understanding of daily clinical tasks including documentation, device selection, and fabrication. I practiced several clinical and laboratory skills, specifically familiarization with appointment timelines, modification of plaster molds, and fabrication of foot orthotics. Working with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and administrators provided the opportunity to gain exposure to all tasks that are carried out in clinic, both patient facing and behind-the-scenes.

Planned all aspects of a biomechanics research project and carried out all experimentation. Analyzed results using ImageJ, MATLAB, and Excel, and planned for future experiments based on analysis. Presented data and conclusions at weekly lab meetings.

Worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant for the NSF funded Biomedical Engineering REU at Binghamton University. Planned and carried out a research project on Mechanoresponsive Spontaneous Wicking to understand the mechanism and its potential contributions to Biomedical Engineering. Presented information and conclusions obtained during the 10 week program on an organized and visually stimulating poster.

Greensboro/Winston-Salem, North Carolina Area

Analyzed and characterized head impact exposure in collegiate women's soccer and motorsports athletes using a novel mouthpiece sensor. Extracted head kinematics during head impacts to understand when athletes experience the highest risk of brain injury. Utilized MATLAB to extract and filter head kinematics and modeled head impacts using LS Pre-Post to gain a comprehensive understanding of the effect of each exposure on the brain.
