Working in the international division at Debenhams has given me an understanding of different markets as well as experience across a range of channels. Due to members of staff leaving I have been responsible for what would normally be the manager’s role over the past 3 months. This has given me the opportunity to manage the marketing budget, ensuring all invoices are raised accurately and paid on time. I have also been responsible for the 3 current marketing channels; PPC, email and affiliate, making sure these channels are driving sales where they should be. I analyse reports on a daily basis in order to improve performance and make decisions as to where the budget should be spent in order to best support the trading calendar and promotional activity. I am responsible for analysing the international Google PPC accounts using Adwords, Google Analytics and DoubleClick to monitor key performance indicators and then using this data to make bid adjustments and optimise. I also monitor and manage the budgets, putting more money in to areas that are performing well or to support key trading events. Over the past few months I have been involved in building accounts for new countries, looking for opportunities to drive revenue and build brand awareness in these markets. For the past year I have been responsible for the entire international email process, from planning the calendar and content through to building and scheduling, then reporting on performance and looking for improvements. Working on email has allowed me to use my creative side, coming up with engaging copy and editing imagery using Photoshop to ensure the content is appropriate for the countries it is being sent to.I am also currently working with two affiliate networks. While the account managers manage day to day interaction with partners I have been responsible for building a relationship with representatives in the network and ensuring the channel is performing as expected.

As Supervisor at Monsoon I was given the responsibility of key holder, this involved opening and closing the store ensuring that both the store and safe were both secure. My role included managing and motivating the staff to ensure that all tasks were completed and all areas of the shop floor were covered during opening hours. I was responsible for training staff in areas such as customer service to ensure the store was doing the best it could to achieve the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly targets set both in terms of sales and the number of items each customer was purchasing. This also included spending time with members of staff doing performance development reviews to explore the areas they had performed well in and areas that they still needed development in. Other responsibilities I had were taking part in full shop moves and window layouts, both of which needed to be in line with company guidelines but also involved using my creativity skills.

During my time at Monsoon I was given the opportunity to cover the Assistant Manager role while the management were covering in other stores. Over this time I was responsible for preparing and starting the summer sale. I had to ensure that all the clothes had been marked down to the correct price and merchandise the shop floor and windows accordingly. Communication with the Area Manager was a key part of my job to ensure that all actions were carried out in timely manner, keeping in line with company policies and up to date with current information. My other roles involved training and inducting new members of staff. I also carried out operations such as inputting payroll details onto the system and ensuring rotas were accurate and staffing levels were kept at an appropriate level to the amount of money we were making. Security and Health and Safety were also areas that I had to make sure all members of staff were fully trained in.

My role as Sales Assistant at Monsoon involved working as part of the team to achieve sales targets set by the company and management. To do this I worked with customers, both on the shop floor and in the fitting room aiming to build a rapport and enhance their overall shopping experience. I was also responsible for many retail operations including putting transactions through the till, ensuring standards were met on the shop floor and processing deliveries.
