Student Lab assistant in UNC Lineberger Cancer Center, the faculty research home of UNC Cancer Care in the lab of Dr. Kate Gessner (Urology). The lab assistant has a central role in providing researchers with accurately prepared materials for experiments and procedures conducted each day. The specific job duties include routine cell culture, DNA preparation/cloning, stocking of lab supplies, preparing buffers and media, plastic and glassware washing and sterilizing, organizing, and cleaning lab areas, clerical assistance, and various other research-assisting tasks to ensure lab spaces are clean, well-maintained, and safe. This is a paid position and not independent research although opportunities may arise depending on projects and student availability beyond basic tasks.
