Vice ChairGrŵp - Learn, Network, Lead Apr 2013 - Oct 2015Cardiff, United KingdomGrŵp is the new name for the South Wales Women in Management Network. The name may have changed but what we do is the same. The original network was established in 2008 by a group of women who wanted something different from a business club. From the very start the focus has been on learning and development through networking. We offer opportunities for women in the public, private and third sectors to meet and learn from each other in a relaxing and supportive environment. At each of our bi-monthly events we have a high profile speaker who will inspire and motivate you to think about your own development goals. We have a unique format where guests sit at tables with a facilitator and the speaker is in conversation with the host. Guests have an opportunity to ask their own questions, either after the conversation or when the speaker visits each of the tables in turn to talk directly with the guests. The event concludes with an opportunity to feedback any comments and more informal networking.Past guests have included Laura Tenison, founder of JoJo Maman Bebe; Cheryl Gillan MP, former Secretary of State for Wales; Rachel Clacher, founder of Moneypenny; Dame Gillian Morgan, Permanent Secretary of the Welsh Government; Baroness Ilora Finlay, crossbench peer and Consultant in Palliative Medicine; and many others.

Some members work in major corporations or in the public sector; others run their own business or consultancy. The South East Wales WIM network was established by a group of committed volunteers, who realised that there was a need in South Wales for opportunities for women to network and to meet role models.
