Supporting clients with materiality audits, stakeholder listening and strategy development as an Associate for Fit for Purpose - a certified B Corp purpose and sustainability consultancy

Responsible for development and implementation of corporate responsibility (CR) and stakeholder communications strategy for Telefónica UK - known to its customers as O2. Specific CR responsibilities included: Managing oversight of CR risks, issues and opportunities; policy design and roll-out; and leading the development and launch of O2's first sustainability plan. Additionally, I looked after stakeholder communications and engagement, which involved:Developing strategic communications plans; identifying and engaging with stakeholders; setting up a stakeholder panel; generating all associated communications materials; and CR reporting. Finally, I was responsible for co-ordinating CR activity across Europe, working with Head Office and European colleagues to build a consistent global-local approach.

A pan-European role, I worked closely with the Head Office in Madrid and all O2 businesses in Europe, responsible for CR reporting and CR issue management/co-ordination. Key achievements included the launch of new initiatives to better inform customers with disabilities and older people about how to choose a mobile phone; leading an extensive materiality review of CR reporting data; and rolling out a reputational tool to all European markets.

I project managed the production of centralised European CR reports, managing all suppliers, internal stakeholders and external verification while ensuring timely and accurate delivery - winning numerous awards for our reporting activity. I then managed the transition to global-local reporting, coaching colleagues and creating an online toolkit to enable O2 businesses to produce local market reports.

I worked with the PR team to publicise Crisis projects, primarily the ‘Open Christmas’ campaign, providing shelter to the homeless at Christmas. I helped ensure high media presence at the Media Day and co-ordinated media volunteer activity, leading to significant positive media coverage.

My key responsibility was to gain maximum media coverage to promote new charity album ‘Help: A Day in the Life’ and raise the charity’s profile. The campaign generated extensive positive coverage across TV, radio and print, becoming the fastest download album ever and raising over £350k in first few weeks of sale.

My role was to manage strategic and tactical Public Relations (PR) activity in a culturally diverse environment – managing a network of PR agencies, briefing journalists and providing counsel to senior management. I also co-ordinated reactive responses to sensitive incidents and managed press office shifts.

I developed processes to ensure consistent customer service and safe and secure operations across 36 airports in Western Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, co-ordinated operational responses across the region, and received an award for managing a French air traffic control strike.
