I graduated from Mt. Carmel H.S., the University of Illinois and received my J.D. from DePaul University College of Law, where I received the CALI Award for Legal Ethics. I have spoken at seminars for the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Chicago Bar Association. I am past Chair of the Real Estate Taxation Committee and Tax Sale/Tax Deed Subcommittee of the CBA. I joined the firm in 2002 and have been a partner since 2007.My primary practice areas are real estate tax sales, certificate assignments, tax deeds, tax redemption, indemnity fund claims, retroactive and alternative tax relief, real estate tax exemptions, sheriff levy sales; medical malpractice and personal injury claims; business and real estate transactions and related areas of civil litigation. I have litigated numerous tax sale matters and Indemnity Fund cases involving residential, income, commercial/industrial properties, and obtained judgments exceeding $1 million involving former owners, purchasers, heirs, and lien holders, including mortgage companies. One noteworthy case resulted in a record-breaking $51 million verdict for a client who was severely injured in an automobile collision. Another resulted in a record-high verdict of $12,508,098 for the family of a quadriplegic child who drowned in a bathtub after being left unattended by her home health care nurse. I handled a breach of contract jury trial where the plaintiff pierced the defendant’s “corporate veil," obtained a verdict in the amount of $580,000.00 and pre-judgment interest of almost $85,000.00. The judgment was collected via a citation to discover assets and a complaint to set aside a fraudulent transfer of the president's real estate. We pursued a sheriff's levy sale and the defendant paid the judgment, plus post-judgment interest and costs, in full.I look forward to working with you and your clients.
