Emmie Chen is a Principal Environmental Engineer based in Georgia with over 15 years of experience focused on site investigation and remediation, contaminant fingerprinting and source identification, as well as site history forensics and environmental cost allocation at complex upland and sediment sites. Emmie has practical experience designing and implementing environmental site assessment programs in support of remediation efforts at a variety of contaminated sites, including several large CERCLA sites. The broad technical skills she has acquired from these site investigation and remediation projects have built a strong foundation of transferable knowledge that Emmie routinely utilizes to meet her clients’ site history and environmental forensics needs. To aid her clients with their legal matters, Emmie regularly applies her technical expertise on the historical use, production, and environmental fate and transport of a range of contaminants, including polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), radionuclides, metals, dioxins and furans (D/Fs), and other emerging contaminants to support litigation efforts under federal and state regulatory programs. Her work not only includes generation of third-party nexus packages, but also execution of contaminant fingerprinting assessments and development of informative site visuals to establish key linkages between historical process operations and the contaminants driving remediation at the site. She is also adept at leading multidisciplinary teams of subject matter experts and routinely works in close consultation with her clients, their legal counsel, and other consultants. Emmie provides these comprehensive “turn-key” services for a wide variety of industrial clients under numerous regulatory frameworks to successfully identify additional responsible parties, inform legal strategy, minimize her clients’ liabilities in cost allocation proceedings, and reduce her clients’ costly capital expenses associated with environmental remediation activities.
