In this role, I am responsible for shaping the Alliance’s brand and proactive communications strategy. I lead the Alliance’s media engagement efforts, ensure the strength and consistency of the Alliance brand, manage the planning and execution of the College Aggies Online program, and outreach efforts with nutrition influencers. I also coordinate strategic discussions with relevant stakeholders on communications strategies and represents the Alliance at various industry meetings.

I developed and executed the organization’s social media strategy, monitored digital and traditional media, and served as a spokesperson for the Alliance. I also led the planning and execution of the College Aggies Online program.

My role at Maryland Farm Bureau served to effectively communicate policy and regulation to Maryland farmers, while also cultivating a connection between food and agriculture with consumers. Working closely with the government relations team, I developed and designed all member publications and marketing materials, managed media requests, and identified outreach strategies to foster relationships with the non-agricultural community.

University Of Maryland

I served as President of the Block & Bridle chapter at the University of Maryland for three semesters to facilitate progress and growth of the club. During the re-building stages of the club, newly created officer roles were implemented and tasks appropriately delegated. In addition, two Ag Day livestock shows were planned and hosted, with a 50% increase in showmen registration than in previous years.

On my journey to becoming a stronger, more effective agricultural communicator, I competed in the 2017 College Aggies Online scholarship program. Through the intensive 9-week program, I further developed my communications and consumer engagement skills related to food and agriculture.

Queenstown, Maryland

The beef cattle industry has always been my greatest passion. Through this internship, I gained valuable knowledge through the management of a 200-head cow/calf operation that utilized rotational grazing practices to reduce feed costs and maximize land usage.

Arlington, Va

My internship with the Animal Agriculture Alliance provided my first work experience in the professional agriculture industry. I developed weekly social media content, tracked news and legislation related to animal agriculture, wrote blog posts for Animal Ag Engage, and helped coordinate the annual Stakeholders Summit.

I represented Maryland in the national Collegiate Discussion Meet competition, hosted by the American Farm Bureau Federation. I discussed tax policy, farm labor, and food marketing with collegiate contestants from across the country as we worked to develop Farm Bureau-driven solutions to these national issues.

Clarksville, Md

Over the course of the summer, I worked with several other interns to prepare beef and dairy cattle for the Maryland State Fair in August. We designed and developed educational materials for the College of Agriculture & Natural Resources exhibit, engaged with and responded to public concerns related to the cattle industries, and assisted with preparations for the College’s annual open house event.
