My research is focused on the interactions between compassion and self-compassion, parenting, and stress physiology and supporting parents during the first years of their child's life. I completed my doctoral degree at the Institute of Child Development, where I worked with Dr. Megan Gunnar. My dissertation study was a micro-trial testing the immediate effect of a loving-kindness meditation on parent stress physiology and sensitive parenting during a parent-child interaction in parents of toddlers. I have also taught undergraduate courses on child development and adolescent psychology and am passionate about mentoring the next generation of developmental scientists and advocates. I currently serve on the Duke University Postdoctoral Association's Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee and am a member of the Developmental Scientists for Climate Action (DevSCA) advocacy committee.
