I am a practical person who is always looking for a way to better myself, those around me, and the problem at hand. I am constantly working with others and that is something that energizes me due to my extroverted nature. In these group settings or even on my own, I am driven by challenges because I love to learn new information and solve puzzles. Ultimately, efficiency and effectiveness are two things that are very important to me when faced with a problem; I always look for a solution with those goals in mind. This mindset and my eagerness to work with others have often led me to leadership roles in the communities I am a part of.At Union College, I have enjoyed the rigorous academic programs that have pushed me to adapt and learn more about myself as a student. I am a senior Environmental Chemistry major with a minor in Environmental Science, which has helped me in my past professional experiences. I recently have developed a passion for food chemistry and the Chemistry Department has been gracious enough to let me explore my interests by embarking on a new research project studying the development of acrylamide as a by-product of the Maillard reaction, which I hope to develop into my senior thesis. Following my undergraduate education, I hope to continue studying culinary or environmental chemistry through a graduate program before entering the industry or pursuing a doctoral degree in the field.
