The Plastic Solutions Fund is an international funder collaborative dedicated to tackling the crisis of plastic pollution, which impacts the health of people and ecosystems all over the planet.Established in 2017, PSF’s giving focuses on systems transforming interventions with prevention is better than cure mindset, making grants across the plastic supply chain from extraction to disposal. Recognizing that the plastics economy is driven by (and benefits) some of the most powerful vested interests around the world, the PSF is dedicated to building grassroots movement power to catalyze change now and in the future.The PSF believes that greater impact will be achieved if civil society and philanthropy work together in partnership. PSF is proud to have helped establish, and continue to fund the global grassroots movement Break Free From Plastic (BFFP). Over the next five years, the US program manager will seek to work with BFFP to help extend its reach, power, and capacity. We also seek to broaden the diversity of civil society organizations and movements that we work with, supporting them to build their power in support of the transformational change we all seek.

Emy joined the Conservancy’s Cities Network team at its inception in December 2014, drawn by the desire to catalyze collective efforts at the local, regional and national level to improve urban landscapes and address the wide disparities in health and wellbeing outcomes of frontline communities. Over 6+ years she worked collaboratively with core Cities team of 7 staff, 56+ urban program staff and 100+ partner organizations across 20+ Network cities to build capacity, develop incentives disseminate learning and leverage the privilege, power, and resources of TNC to support frontline communities and BIPOC led organizations access the tools, resources needed to lead on the decisions and actions that shape their lives. In her previous role as Cities Network Deputy Director, she spearheaded the creation of several equitable grantmaking mechanisms, pushed for open discourse around racial equity via the development of the first Racial Equity Leadership Lab at TNC, was senior co-editor for the Field Guide to Urban Conservation and co-lead 8 successful Cities convenings.

Emy led the Environment Program at Fundación Global Democracia y Desarollo, a Dominican Foundation, where she established several conservation and educational programs in Santo Domingo, ranging from community gardening program, to recycling art and urban youth scholarship programs, which tackled food insecurity, waste management, and supported the self-determination of urban youth as the next generation of environmental leaders. • Responsible for launching and advancing a successful environmental program including overseeing an international team of five based in multiple offices; contributing content and providing communications oversight for six program websites; drafting initial concept papers; monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness and performance of all activities to ensure goals were met• Served as Programming Director for the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival since its inception in 2009: selecting films, obtaining screening rights and negotiating subtitling contracts; securing venues as well as the participation of filmmakers and experts; providing print trafficking; producing content for film guide and website; organizing panels, workshops, master classes and community activities; arranging travel/transportation logistics; managing press coverage• Built successful and lasting partnerships with stakeholders and other public and private organizations • Created content on the coastal marine resources of the Dominican Republic for Ocean in Google Earth in partnership with the Sylvia Earle Alliance; created the first-ever Spanish tour for Oceans in Google and the first Google Tour of the Dominican Republic, presented at Rio+20• Co-wrote “Garbage or Resource?,” an award-winning short documentary film highlighting sustainable waste management practices

• Coordinated all aspects and actively participated in six community-based workshops as part of participatory process designed to improve the management of marine protected areas (MPA) throughout the country• Conducted field ecosystems assessments and compiled data to develop an effective management plan for Sosúa Marine Park; coordinated peer review and professional editing of management plan• Responsible for writing and editing field reports, program reports, and press releases as well as management of budget and submittal of receipts, expense and cost-sharing reports• Built public/private partnerships with key MPA stakeholders and worked closely with several fishermen communities
