Doug has been instrumental in McKinstry’s evolution from a local mechanical contractor into a nationally-recognized leader of efficient, smart, and clean solutions for the built environment. McKinstry’s integrated design-build-operate delivery continues to expand across the Pacific Northwest, Rocky Mountains, Midwest and Southwest, addressing the needs of schools, hospitals, data centers, government buildings, industrial facilities, and commercial offices. Doug is passionate about developing next-generation construction techniques to deliver high-performance, cost-effective buildings that model environmental stewardship. He is currently focused on increasing the speed of building design and construction by creating a next generation industry supply chain. A key ingredient in this revolution is the use of emerging technologies. To be on the front line of the technology race, Doug has become an active angel investor in technology startups. He leverages his relationships with select startups to form strategic partnerships that will accelerate McKinstry’s ability to lead transformational change in the built environment. Doug gives back to the industry and community in a variety of roles. He serves on the advisory boards for Seattle University’s Center for Business Ethics and Center for Entrepreneurship, the Cascadia-Seattle Lean Construction Institute Core Team and Washington State University’s Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture. He is also an advisor to several early-stage companies and is a past president of the Puget Sound Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Doug is a registered Professional Engineer in several states and has LEED® A.P. accreditation.
