My role aims to elucidate the interplay between LRRK2 and PINK1 signalling in the context of Parkinson's disease, with a specific focus on lysosomal and mitochondrial biology.

PhD position in the CÚRAM institute at the National University of Ireland in Galway with a Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant. My work is part of the EU commission project BrainMatTrain that will train 15 ESRs in 8 host institutions.My research is focused on the design of a therapeutic hydrogel system for the cure of Parkinson's disease. In particular the objectives are:•Fabricate multi-modal functionalised scaffolds for neuroprotection and neuroprotective protein delivery•Investigate the bioactivity of therapeutics released from the multi-modal biomaterial scaffolds in an organotypic ex vivo model of Parkinson’s disease• Conduct histological analysis to assess the host response to the multi-modal scaffolds in a preclinical model of Parkinson’s disease.

Synthesis and Characterization of Nanopolymeric Capsules for Cancer Therapy

Internerships at MEDINFO (http://www.medinfo.dist.unige.it) lab for my bachelor's thesis work. There I studied the interaction between biopolymers in the construction of NPCs for drugs delivery. In particular we used commercial chitosan and pectin synthesized by BioMATLab of Politecnico di Milano (http://www.biomatlab.it).As part of the Prin project we create a biocompatible and biodegradable hydrogel for controlled and localized drug release.
