In the midst of the pandemic I took a short opportunity to apply some of my knowledge of aesthetics learned in my degree to join a new marketing company. The company was marketing for local businesses such as Londis and aimed to put out promotional posts and re-branding for these businesses. I worked on several projects including a logo design. This was a remote working position and was a fantastic opportunity to build; my creative skills, my experience in understanding client briefs and communication within the workplace to achieve desired results.

This was a role where I took on several managerial responsibilities. I maintained the smooth running of this family-owned business by; opening and closing the shop, organising the displays, keeping the shelves well-stocked, assisting customers at the till, measuring out product for the customers, cleaning the inside and the outside of the shop, keeping a substantial cash float, taking inventory, arranging stock delivery, receiving and handling deliveries and orchestrating the workplace schedule in accordance with local businesses and tourism to ensure the highest amount of foot traffic. At this business, all the prices had to be remembered by heart and entered manually on the till, building on my high ability of mental arithmetic to serve customers quickly at busy periods. In my time there the shop received several excellent google reviews mentioning my service. I built solid relations with the local residents, businesses and communities.

In my role here I was part of the team that opened a new M&S food shop in Whitstable. I helped to arrange the displays, fully stock the new site, learn the administration system we would be using and present a welcoming image to the new swath of customers. Day-to-day I was keeping the product well-stocked, assisting customers with any queries they had and serving them efficiently and warmly at the till.

This work experience role saw me assisting the teachers in; nursery, year two and year six classes. I would also take groups of children who struggled with their work to creative sessions in which they could have periods of the day to release their stress and energy. In the year six class I led a separate P.E lesson for the gifted long-distance runners to train them for cross country runs they would be taking. My feedback was immensely positive and I developed a high amount of inter-generational people skills.
