I'm working in the MCS division of Trimble. We design very rugged human interface devices for many different types of severe condition applications. The designs are based on several different processor families and run multiple operating systems.

Developing architectures and hardware designs around embedded payment client devices with data encryption. I create reference designs and help customers with hardware implementations to include hardware/firmware high security data encryption for protecting payment and personally identifiable information at the point of collection, typically a payment terminal or other sensitive data collection device, like barcode scanners, check scanner, mag stripe readers, NFC readers, and similar.

I'm working in the NBI group on multiprocessor embedded mobile projects. The current program is card payment validation systems connected to cell phones and encrypting USB 2.0 hubs.I'm responsible for hardware design at the product and board level. This includes work in NFC, particularly antenna design and impedance matching. Design validation planning. Hardware specification generation. Generally all the steps necessary to get a design concept into manufacturing.

I teach a few lessons on the side and make reeds for students and myself.

Polyvision is a division of Steelcase. We design education and business collaboration tools like smart white boards and conference room scheduling tools. I am responsible for test planning, new product concept investigation, sustaining for current products, root cause for field failures and hardware updates, contract engineering program management.

Designing small, embedded processor projects for on road and off road electric vehicles plus VLF HDX and FDX RFID base stations for biological tagging.

My last position at Intel was with the floating point group in the Pentium design team. I implemented standard cell data path logic, both in schematic and physical layout. I also synthesized RTL and created layout for the results with Synopsys tools. For both design styles, I converged timing, power and layout using various in house tools.Previous to the processor group, I worked in the Itanium chipset group (460GX) and several consumer product groups, designing USB video cameras (Create and Share Camera), internet tablets (StrongArm based Intel Web Tablet), video display boards, video capture boards (ISVR Pro), ISDN interfaces, and in circuit emulators (ICE186, ICE286, IPAT). I was responsible for ASIC design including RTL coding, synthesis, model building and test regression. I also created PCB design, creating schematics in Mentor 7 and 8 tools as well as directing layout.I have experience with ASIC prototyping strategies including in circuit with Emulation Technologies tools and pre silicon with Quickturn logic tools. All of the design tools I used for both chip and board design were running in the Linux OS.

The hardware team at Cadre designed in circuit emulators. I designed several in circuit microprocessor probes that interfaced with the logic analyzer chassis. I designed all the logic for the probes as well as directing the layout of the circuit boards. I designed the flex circuit that was used to plug the probe into the microprocessor socket on the customer target board. I specified the high speed interconnect cable between the probe and the LA chassis. I specified the plastics design for the probe enclosure as well. I owned the real time performance analysis tool hardware design maintenance.

I was designing Macintosh hardware interface products mostly having to do with copy protection for games. I was also heavily involved with user interface validation during software release cycles.
