My choice for a profession in urban and regional planning has been influenced by personal interest, aptitude and international education and experience. I spent my childhood in Botswana, South Africa and Swaziland as a child of development workers. With my aptitude for drawing and interest in technology, the need to create and devise solutions to invoke social challenges, the study in urban and regional planning was a logical choice.The work of an urban planner requires multidisciplinary knowledge and an inter-disciplinary approach. This means that in my work I focus on the use of processes that lead to a systematic approach to the design and development of plans in the spatial environment. My experience is that, regardless of the scale of the project, the dialogue between interested parties is an important element in the realization of a widely supported spatial plan. My expertise lies in the analysis of layered and complex projects, and the application of processes and resources necessary to achieve successful and creative solutions.
