I have a passion for learning and growing, especially as I reach the end of my college career and join the professional world. During my time as a student at the University of Rhode Island, I found that communication and public relations have piqued my interest and have encouraged me to strive to learn more. As I near the end of my senior year, I have realized that I will never stop being a student, I will only stop sitting in a lecture hall. In the spring semesters of both my junior and senior year, I had the opportunity and pleasure of interning at WSBE Rhode Island PBS. Within the first few weeks, I was given the responsibility of curating graphics and posting to their annual fundraising event’s social media pages. This led me directly into my interest in development, especially for non-profit organizations like PBS. With the guidance of the audience engagement and development teams, I was able to get hands-on experience of organizing, promoting, and executing their largest fundraising event of the year. I was eager to come to work every day and when my internship ended that year, I was certain I wanted to come back during my senior year to learn even more. Now, as I wrap up my second semester long internship there, I know that there was no better place for me to establish myself in the professional world.With the knowledge I gained from my classes and the experience I gained through my internship, I was able to start working for Homes By Connect, a brokerage out of Portsmouth, Rhode Island. I was given the responsibility of their social media accounts and was called upon to conceptualize new and different marketing strategies. Thanks to these experiences, I am confident in my ability to learn, adapt, and create unique work. I have been fortunate to receive these opportunities and can say confidently that both have shaped me into the professional I am today. Additionally, I am proud of the work I have done for both companies and am even more proud of the connections I have made along the way. I am excited and eager to see what the future holds.
