Boats were additionally used to install submerged anchors, buoys, navigational lighting beacons and floating 5kV electrical lines used to power the pump-barges and dredges.

The Syncrude Base-Mine, Tailings Relocation North Mine South Pit West (TR-NMSPW) Project included the construction of more than 40 km of heavy-civil pipeline corridor, light duty access roads and containment sumps. Construction was primarily achieved by utilizing nearly one-million m3 of various native soils, gravels and lean oil sands material. Caterpillar equipment of various sizes were used to complete this work including (but not limited to) 793 haul-trucks, 740 haul trucks, D9 Dozers, 24M motor graders and Deere 450 & 850 excavators. Installation of forty kilometers of 28” carbon-steel pipeline; boring and placement of 800 concrete filled carbon steel cased piles and screw-piles; horizontal boring and placement of three 56” carbon Steel sleeves beneath HWY- 63; placement and final connection of electrical substations, installation and termination of 5 to 72kV power lines at grade and overhead; placement of two large-scale pump houses, each containing a single 2500hp tailings pump; refurbishment of a third 2500hp pump; refurbishment and replacement of supporting gland-water pumps and structures; HVAC, electrical, insulation, installation of three bridge cranes, structural steel installation and final connections for pump-houses; structural steel packages consisting of towers and pipe racks. More than one million man-hours were expended during the completion of this project. The overall managed value of labor, materials and equipment exceeded three hundred million dollars.
