• R&D Core Team member from start to finish for two significant projects, the development and launch of the Olympus POWERSEAL Sealer/Divider and a significant part reduction of the Olympus THUNDERBEAT handle for US.
• Developed and launched Olympus POWERSEAL Sealer/Divider, Olympus’ first advanced bipolar vessel sealing device using a mechanical blade for cutting. This device will enable Olympus to complete in this very large market.
• Redesigned handle of Thunderbeat ultrasonic vessel sealing device handle to significantly reduce the part count.

• Developed disposable products used in the perfusion circuit during cardiopulmonary bypass; the Affinity Pixie Oxygenation System and the Affinity Fusion Oxygenation System.
• 20% reduction in cost of the uncoated Affinity Fusion reservoir verses the uncoated predicate device. This was accomplished by elimination of all adhesive joints, reduction in part count, and semi-automation that.
• Micro air bubble removal performance of the Affinity Fusion reservoir was improved such that Medtronic went from having the worst in class device to best in class device by an order of magnitude over the closest.
• Affinity Fusion team was complimented by FDA reviewer on clarity of reports. I authored approximately 1/3rd of the reports on this large project.
• Represented Medtronic, actively rewrote test methods, and helped consolidate comments from around the world on the ISO committee that is redesigning all of the small bore connectors per the general standard ISO 80369-1.

• Designed applicators that store, mix, and easily apply synthetic medical adhesives.
• Awarded Medical Design Excellence Award Gold in 2004 for DERMABOND ProPen XL
• Designed applicator for a bio-absorbable non-biologic internal surgical adhesive, the Ethicon Omnex Surgical Sealant. Overall project manager for the last 5 or 6 months of the Omnex project, overseeing quality.
• Worked in a small office of six, requiring that I wear multiple hats. Managed IT duties for the device design facility and installed and administered CAD and product data management software for Closure Medical.
