Prof. Eric Cheng has extensive experience in power electronics. Since 20 years ago, he also conducted electric vehicle research and his most well-known development are the 1st commercial electric vehicles in Hong Kong and the region, MyCar. His second development is the solar air-conditioning vehicles. Both of them has been commercialized. He has developed the technology in Active suspension, integrated charger, in-wheel motor, body-integrated super-capacitor, battery management system, energy management system, anti-lock braking system (ABS), fuel cell vehicle and vehicle lighting system.He also developed a number of high impact power conversion system. They are switched-capacitor resonant converter, switched-inductor resonant converter, energy storage theory, polymer-bonded magnetics, DC distribution, high frequency AC distribution, wireless power transfer and high frequency magnetics.
