As an AT&T Engineer I design fiber facilities to new AT&T feeder facilities and work with developers to design new fiber, and occasionally copper, facilities to new businesses apartment complexes and subdivisions. I've personally designed and issued projects in the MDU/SFU environment (apartments and subdivisions), new splitters, new PFP's, new business, ABF orders, CWOTS (Custom Work Orders), and Damage Claim projects. Excelled in utilization of the OPTI-NT design tool and am now excelling in the use of ARAMIS-DT to produce quality work prints for construction. Use of ARAMIS-DT also includes direct records creation/correction cable and conduit associations, pushing facilities through AOTX, etc. Other duties include: work in the ACAS system to bid out projects for contract design, work with construction coordinators during facilities placement and work with splicing technicians on changes and adjustments to the initial design based on field conditions. All work is geared to provide construction the design and material steps needed to enable placement and splicing of facilities well in advance of customer service requirements.

Excelled at splicing copper cable from 25 to 3000 pair and Fiber cable from 6 fiber to 864 fiber cables. Excelled at following engineering prints while working as a splicer. Able to read prints in order to accomplish splicing tasks, placing tasks, etc independently. Worked in aerial, buried and underground environments in all weather conditions. Cut in new terminals, cut in new cables in remote terminals and crossboxes, was involved in throws, replaced damaged sections of cable, placed and tested new splitters, cut in new PFP's and FDF's, etc, all based on work generated via engineering prints. Coordinated placement of new facilities per corporate specifications within customer parameters when working in business environments. Worked with records to locate and repair damaged sections of cable and open fibers. The Cable Splicing department is part of the Construction and Engineering section the AT&T Network Operations business unit.

Worked cable repair/splicing, DSL installation and repair, Uverse repair, telephone service installation and repair and special service repair. Responsibilities included working independently to resolve customer service issues on any level from business to residential accounts involving internet, Uverse, special circuit or telephone. A company issued Panasonic Toughbook was used to configure DSL modems and routers in both business and residential environments, initiate self dispatches, test the service and complete the assignment. Worked with multiple internal departments to resolve problems including internet speed, IP address, and registration issues on DSL accounts, speed and distance issues on Uverse service orders and telephone configuration and/or equipment failures are regular responsibilities. Initiated and coordinated troubleshooting sessions with other departments including but are not limited to FACS, ASI, SBCIS Tier 2, Uverse product support department, MLAC, RCMAC, NOC and any given central office. Clear and effective communication while interfacing with customers and other internal departments was imperative and in this I feel I exceled. Assisted customers by identifying and resolving software/hardware issues within their own equipment. Other regular duties included driving and maintenance of a company vehicle initiating and coordinating any repairs needed as necessary. I possess advanced technical knowledge in outside plant construction and repair. Able to independently utilize company prints and cable locating equipment to initiate cable dig-ups. Frequently utilized the NERV records tool while working in the cable, in a splice or terminal in order to identify possible bridge tap for removal for Uverse and DSL products. Able to coach and train persons in this position fielding calls on a fairly regular basis from other technicians looking for assistance. I have cultivated excellent peer working relationships at all levels.

One of two fulltime technicians tasked with provisioning the State of Texas logical circuits on levels one, two and occasionally three. Circuits in the network are Frame-relay and ATM ranging in speed from 56K to OC3. Coordinated with Telco provisioners, repair technicians, project management and State of Texas management to achieve minimal disruptions during circuit turn-ups and while assisting with the reconnection of circuits that were out of service. Dispatched and coordinated testing with technicians at the customer location for resolution of service issues that were unable to be resolved remotely. Utilized the circuit manager system regularly to verify the accuracy of customers account configurations in the network. Assisted central offices throughout the state while provisioning additional trunk circuits for the fiber ring. Network troubleshooting regularly involved anything from working with the customer on router configurations (usually Cisco) to logical issues involving network card settings to problems with trunk circuits. VPI/VCI's associated with specific PVC's and incorrect LMI settings in customer routers were frequent issues. Worked with multiple systems and customer issues simultaneously. Very multitask oriented and all work was done independently. Most of the work was initiated via phone (queue) or internal messaging system. A good working relationship with all parties involved improved the efficiency of our related job duties. Key participant in the cutover of more than two hundred State of Texas 911 circuits with double the number of affected PVC's between multiple platforms. Was able to reduce what was estimated at a three + week project to less than two weeks by pre-provisioning all circuits before and after the regular workday shift.
