I am the Youth Activity Specialist for Covenant House Alaska's Rights of Passage Program. Rights of Passage is a Transitional Living Program for homeless youth aged 18 to 24. We provide young adults with an apartment for 18 months to give them the opportunity to learn life skills and become independent adults. I am currently responsible for facilitating 4 group activities/classes each week. I facilitate weekly House Meetings, an Education and Employment class, a Life Skills class, and a "Wellness Wednesday" activity. I also cook meals to be served with each of these weekly events.

As a Supervisor for Juneau Youth Services, I worked at their Montana Creek Residential Facility. Montana Creek is a Level 4 Residential Treatment Facility for youth ages 12-18 with dual diagnoses. I was responsible for supervision and training of Case Managers and Front-Line Floor Staff. I was also responsible for planning and facilitating all programming at Montana Creek. This included recreational activities, mealtimes, SELF and TIP curriculum, healthy lifestyle activities, and substance abuse education.Additional responsibilities included administering RCYCP training to all new agency staff within 90 days of hire. RCYCP stands for Residential Child and Youth Care Professional Training, this was a 40-hour training I led alongside another Supervisor and the JYS Housing Director.

As a Case Manager for Lamoille County Mental Health Services, I was responsible for providing Case Management and Community Work Services to adolescent and young adult clients. I coordinated meetings between out-patient providers in the community and the families of clients we served. About half of my duties included Case Management coordination and the other half included providing direct respite care to clients in the community. Respite care usually consisted of facilitating outdoor recreational activities for clients like mountain biking, hiking, frisbee golf, etc.

When I started working for Juneau Youth Services in 2011, I was hired as a Behavioral Health Associate. As a Behavioral Health Associate, I was responsible for the direct care of clients at their Montana Creek Facility. After about a year and a half as a Behavioral Health Associate, I was promoted to the position of Case Manager at the same Montana Creek Facility. As a Case Manager at the Level 4 Residential Facility, I was responsible for coordinating treatment team meetings and services for clients. One year after becoming a Case Manager, I was promoted to Supervisor at Montana Creek.As a Supervisor for Juneau Youth Services, I worked at the Montana Creek Residential Facility. As a Server for the Twisted Fish Company, I was responsible for providing customers with a Fresh Alaskan Seafood dining experience. The Twisted Fish Company Alaskan Grill is a restaurant designed to cater to cruise ship passengers visiting Juneau in the summer. The cruise ship tourist season is from April to September each summer which means that this was a seasonal position only.
