Joined Eons as consultant to provide senior technical skills. Consulted on architecture and development of components of the Eons.com application suite, including Lifemap, Lifedreams and Lifepath applications. Developed applications in Ruby on Rails, Java and WebObjects. Led small development team to design and implement new application, Lifepath. Lifepath was an innovative approach to allowing users to document their lives and aspirations through a timeline of events and goals. The Lifepath application was launched successfully in August 2007, after a roughly 6 person, 3 month development effort.Promoted to leadership role as CTO/VP Engineering during transitional period. Responsible for development, AQ and systems engineering/operations teams. Provided leadership to stabilize the engineering group through management transition and with subsequent attrition limited to one engineer. Led efforts to refocus engineering group with an emphasis on quality and productivity.Led the re-architecture of the product to address significant reliability, scalability and performance issues. Took the product from hundreds of crashes per day to averaging less than one per day. Initiated efforts to refactor the UI implementation to enhance software reuse and simplify application development.Oversaw the operation infrastructure for Eons.com, including hardware, software, people and processes. Developed and implemented plans to enhance reliability and support growth through 2008. Major initiatives included new application servers, new firewalls, database redundancy through DRBD, database scaling through replication, and implementation of third party monitoring with Gomez. Managed an outside evaluation of Eons operational infrastructure.Worked with COO and Product Management to develop Eons’ product strategy and plans. Led rollout of Eons V2.0, which relaunched Eons.com with a new look and feel that focused on the social network aspects of the application.
