In my current position I lead field crews and sampling efforts for a variety of environmental field services for multiple clients. On a daily basis, I sample groundwater using techniques such as case volume purges and low flow sampling. I perform multiple case volume purge calculations to comply with field manuals and sampling protocol. I am proficient in the use of sampling equipment and groundwater well instrumentation including peristaltic pumps, hydrasleeves, water level meters, multiparameter water quality meters, bladder pumps, and bailers (Geotech, YSI, Ultrameter, QED etc.). In addition to groundwater, I collect soil samples, surface water samples, and conduct well video inspection. I train new and junior level employees in field techniques and field protocols. I regularly collect surface water samples at multiple points along the American River for Aerojet Rocketdyne to comply with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) as authorized by the Clean Water Act. I collect surface samples at Lake Tahoe and the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. I have experience in sampling two superfund sites: Aerojet General Corp. and Casmalia Resources Landfill designated under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). Aerojet is an ongoing project with sampling occurring year round while the Casmailia Landfill site is sampled semiannually. I help lead efforts at Aerojet to collect samples and maintain over 3000 groundwater monitoring wells. Our company is contracted by ERM to sample more than 200 groundwater monitoring wells at the Sacramento Rail yards. I conduct all field Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) in compliance with environmental field sampling protocol and manuals to conform with industry standards.I use best judgment to work through problems while always delivering the best quality results even when given vague or unclear instructions.

I collected atmospheric conditions from two different weather stations that are located at UC Davis. Parameters included temperature, pressure, humidity, wind speed/direction, and evaporation rate. Data was entered into the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations (NOAA) database on a daily basis as well as a UC Davis database where we could review, interpret and summarize the scientific data.I also had the opportunity to work on a geo-probe to assist in the collection of soil samples in the Sacramento Delta and San Joaquin Experimental range. With our soil cores we could better understand the sub surface and create soil profiles over specific transects.

As a student intern, I helped Erica Case, a grad student, with lab and field work. I conducted field visits to Plumas National Forest where I planted Arabis (a rare plant species) seeds. I also collected field data on Arabis plants along a transect that had been destroyed by recent fires. The goal of the study was to better understand how Arabis germinates after fire has moved through the area. In the lab I worked on a variety of different tasks which included sieving soils, weighing biomass, entering data, and measuring plants.All field data that was collected was entered into an online database. Over the course of my time here I entered all the data, study trends, and reported any anomalies in the data.
