As a “NPI” New Product Introduction manufacturing engineer I have many responsibilities that are related to running large projects. The aspects of the job that has a great deal of legacy to them are new tooling innovations. The development of the processes leading to standard work and the safety innovations that are built in from the beginning. These things will be change and be modified over time. As the product changes do to engineering changes and the demands that put upon the product and facility. However the changes will all be based on the ground work that is done today. Some of the innovations and process will be used for the life of the product. Others will be looked at and adapted for use with other products in ways you never thought possible. It gives me a great deal of satisfaction to know that by doing the job correctly we are enabling the production, supply chain, and safety groups to perform at their best. This delivers high quality while maintaining control over cost and making a zero injury culture obtainable for the teams that I support.
