Until recently, I was a student in Georgia Tech's Full Stack Web Development Bootcamp. Three hard months taught me the ropes of coding in JavaScript, and I'm excited to build upon this experience and create some sites and services! Prior to that, I was a manager at the Nantahala River for the Nantahala Outdoor Center, running the busiest and most lucrative rafting operation in the United States. I was hired there in 2019, after many years as a raft guide, and I helped streamline and optimize the operation just in time for COVID. 2020 was a remarkable lesson in ingenuity and flexibility as we helped so many people safely enjoy the outdoors when most were quarantined inside. 2021 was an exercise in resource management, as the vaccinated world emerged to play again and the Nantahala was flooded with families and adventure seekers. I've worked for 13 years in the hospitality industry as a guide, leader and manager, and I am forever thankful for the opportunities it gave to me to connect to people and serve their needs as best I could. In that time, I enrolled in a Master's program in Sustainable Energy to improve my hireability outside of rafting. I learned the basics of computer modelling, finance, energy system installation and so much more. I'm most proud of my work with the Renewable Energy Initiative and the Office of Sustainability at ASU for funding new energy systems and renovating old ones. Now, I'm excited to start a new journey as I begin a life as a Software Engineer. I look forward to connecting with smart and energetic people who are also interested in serving people and the planet.
