Recent accomplishments:-Project Lead to identify and implement an alternate raw material supply; managed small staff, budget, timeline, activities; projected year over year savings of $4MM-Managed a talented technical team to develop and implement proprietary purification technique; managed budget and timeline; projected to reduce customer complaints by 70%; projected year over year cost savings of $225M-Team Lead that designed, justified, guided and implemented a novel manufacturing process for critical component resulting in significant health and safety improvement, reduced processing time and manufacturing costs resulting in 50% process time reduction and $75M year over year cost savings in material costs (PEx Black Belt Project)-Contributor in a project to coordinate with supplier to implement patented “lubrication” process; and transfer in-house process to supplier facility at no cost to company; year over year cost savings of $3MM-An HPLC reference method for a test kit required obsolete technology. I developed new test methodology using current HPLC columns. I led a team to validate the new test methodology that allowed for reinstatement of the reference method; converted Expert Clinicians to the new methodology-A supplier of molded plastic parts determined that a change at the resin supplier resulted in bubbles in the molded part; the presence of bubbles in the parts results in out-of-spec. I designed experiments to determine the root cause of the bubbles. My guidance allowed for a new process step to eliminate the root cause and allow for continued supply of the part. This same methodology is being used to identify alternate resin suppliers.
Co-Op Recruitment Lead
Former co-ops complained of insufficient guidance and unorganized work expectations as well as insufficient full-time employment opportunity upon completion of the co-op. As a lead of the co-op recruitment team I designed a new process that required the hiring manager to design a plan for the co-op and describe a major project to determine which departments would get co-ops. I organized a panel of management to identify which projects had the biggest business impact while maintaining a productive learning environment (at levels appropriate for college aged workers) for the co-op. After only 1 year, the program has been very successful and other operating companies are beginning to follow our model.
Scientist Ii
Successfully eliminated costly functional testing on a buffer for a biopharmaceutical IgG injection with relatively inexpensive and more reliable LC/MS testingSaved 3 lots of biopharmaceutical IgG injection from being scrapped due to unpassivated filling pumps at cross-sector filling facility by showing no contamination was feasible, using GC/MS, FTIR and LC/MS.Improved laboratory capabilities while cutting costs. Brought in and installed a new LCMS from Alza. For almost no cost to OCD, a new $500,000 LCMS was brought in and installed.Analyzed white particles found on tacky tape and on the cutter blades from an immunohematology product filling line. Resolved nonconformance by identifing source of material supporting RCI.Determined sources of false positives in cancer detection kit. Solved issue preventing manufacture due to undissolved material in buffers (both times it was a preservative). This lead to a change in the order of addition when manufacturing MTS Diluents. Analyzed freezer bags for switchover to new manufacturer. Old bags were obsoleted, needed a new bag that was acceptable for use with red cells. Without a new bag, would not be able to produce red cells.Manage projects as well as contract scientists and coops.
