I had 3 basic career tracks.Began in Avionics and loved it to death. Working on Comm/Nav systems in shop and flightline on a wide variety of aircraft platforms. Decided I wanted a more White Collar desk job, away from the elements so I cross trained into computers.Computer Programer. Great timing, graduated in the Halloween '89 class, went to Langly VA, and jumped into the world of UNIX, client server systems and Theater Battle Management. Later the Air Force decided that it didn't need programmers overseas. So if you wanted to stay overseas they would reclassify you as a Computer Operator.Computer Operator. Since I had already put in about 6 or 7 years with Theater Battle Management, being reclassified as an Operator had no effect on my job. They kept me doing what I had been doing, it just killed any chance of getting a reenlistment bonus. Watched the transition of the field from 1989 and early Mission Planning through WCCS, GCCS and on to TBMCS.I really enjoyed my time in the military, it was great!
